Ryder Cup 2006 - County Kildare - The K Club
Probably like most of you, I have too little time and too many commitments but all the desire in the world to sit in front of the T.V and do NOTHING but watch hours of Ryder Cup coverage. Alas, I’ll record it all on the DVR until I can watch every last minute in detail today and later tonight - all the time avoiding current news coverage in an attempt to keep the tourney fresh and unspoiled. I hardly have time to blog but Tiger’s tee shot (the second overall stroke of play for the U.S.) on the first hole landed in the water to my unhappy exclamation, That’s Wet! Jim Furyk looks solid though and none of the U.S. fans are too worried yet (are we?).
The best moment though was watching Darren Clarke walk on the first tee to the rousing ovation of his local fans. He proceeded to stripe a scorched drive down the left side of the fairway - nothing but power, emotion, and beauty. Lee Westwood just looked on in awe - as we all did. The Spaniards (Olazabal and Garcia) meanwhile, a team that would put some fear in ANY U.S. opponent, look like they’re going to be just as tough as you would expect them to be.
Man, there’s so much too say and so little time. For now though I’ll just have to leave it at this for a start.
Play well Gentlemen!
